One-on-one Wedding Planning Consultation -Your Questions Answered

Canmore wedding planner, Banff wedding Planner

What exactly is a one-on-one wedding planning consultation?

In short, it is a meeting to get your wedding planning questions answered. Of course, you are probably wondering how exactly it works and is it really beneficial? Let me explain.

A wedding consultation meeting takes place with a professional wedding planner and you (the bride or couple). Generally, consultations are one-hour long but can be extended longer if you have more questions. Usually, the wedding planner will send you a short questionnaire prior to the phone call so they can learn a little more about your wedding plans and your questions. This step is important because it helps you think about what questions you have and it also helps the wedding planner be prepared. With a little pre-meeting preparation, we can make the most out of your consultation.

Who is Wedding Planning Consultations for?

Naturally Chic mainly works with “destination” weddings (couples who do not live in Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise, Jasper or Emerald Lake and will mainly be planning their weddings from afar). Often this is a little nerve-wracking for couples especially if they have booked their wedding venue “sight unseen” and have never visited the venue or area. For this reason, we conduct our one-one-one wedding consultations over the telephone or via Messenger chat.

Couples that book consultations are generally not already clients of the wedding planner. The sessions are usually conducted for a fee and differ from “complimentary consultations”. Other than paying a fee, the main difference with a paid, one-on-one consultation and a “free consultation” is that there is no expectation for you to book other services. In other words, many couples who book consultations are either just starting out and gathering as much information as possible and/or are planning on “DIY’ing” the wedding themselves. They are seeking a professional planner’s advice on where to start and what to do. With a free consultation, usually, the consultation is about answering questions on the company’s services. Paid consultations should give you answers and advice!

What Topics are Covered During a Wedding Planning Consultation?

Topics covered in our one-on-one consultations are as varied as our clients! We can discuss specific items such as negotiating a contract with a wedding venue or constructing a wedding day timeline (when to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and everything in between). Or, it could be a more general session to answer questions and for the wedding planner to share their knowledge with you on any and all topics (vendor referrals, design advice, where to get rentals etc.).

Clients that I have done consultations with almost always say that the session was helpful and valuable! Couples are often surprised by the amount of information they receive and usually need some time to process all the information. Sometimes I hear back from couples who would like more help and other times couples arm themselves with the information and go on to plan their own beautiful wedding. We are happy to help in either capacity.

So, what are you waiting for? Give us a call to book your consultation! If you still have more questions about the consultation. Feel free to read more about our consultation services or email me at hello@naturallychic.com.
